Ardoin cries after two Grammy nominations

Sean Ardoin figured the news was good when an early morning text arrived from Grammy winner Louis Michot of the Lost Bayou Ramblers. But when Ardoin jumped online and discovered a second Grammy nomination, he knew his prayers had been answered.

“I was trying to find it on my phone, but I couldn’t control my fingers,” said Ardoin, 49, a zydeco musician for 38 years. “But then I find it and it’s (the single) ‘Kick Rocks.’

“I screamed, ‘I got two.’ I had an ugly cry.”

Ardoin cried tears of joy with his two Grammy nominations, which the Recording Academy released Friday morning. Ardoin’s “Kreole Rock and Soul” CD earned a Best Regional Roots Music Album nomination. “Kicks Rocks,” a single from the same album, is up for Best American Roots Performance.

Ardoin joins Lafayette native and Christian music star Lauren Daigle, who also earned two nominations. Daigle’s “Look Up Child” is nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. Her single “You Say” is a nominee for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.

Daigle comes home with her “Behold Christmas Tour” Dec. 14 and Dec. 17 at the Heymann Performing Arts Center.
